Statement on the collaborative repair work of the Grand Mal jetty

23 NOVEMBER 2020: As Senator representing Agriculture and Fisheries, I commend the positive steps taken by 2 of the leading fish exporters in the country to partner with Government amidst the challenges brought about by Covid-19 on the Government’s revenue.   Fish is the No# 1 agricultural export which generates over EC$22 million annually. This timely repair work of the Grand Mal jetty will contribute to the safety of fisherfolks and their workers, and safely enable the fishers to continue to ply their trade, and exporters to be able to get fish for export!  I encourage others within the agriculture and fisheries sectors who are capable, to join hands with members of these sectors, and with Government, to take the necessary actions to enable their economic activity to flourish for the benefit of their families, workers and the country.   PRESS STATEMENT Farmers and Fisherfolks slighted in representation  on Grenada Tourism Authority Board 23 NOVEMBER 2020, ST GEORGE'S: The Senator representing the farming and fishing sectors is calling for better coordination between the tourism sector and the people he represents, following the naming of a new Board of Tourism with no official allocation for agriculture. “Our farmers and fisherfolks are disappointed by the fact that Government has appointed an eleven-member Board of the Grenada Tourism Authority without representation from the agriculture and fisheries sector,” said Senator Roderick St Clair.
